Fatal Judgment by Irene Hannon

Fatal Judgment: A Novel (Guardians of Justice)Fatal Judgment: A Novel by Irene Hannon

My rating: 5 stars!!

Federal judge Liz Michaels sister is shot, in Liz Michaels living room, and in critical condition. U.S. Marshal Jake Taylor is assigned to protect Liz, who was the wife of his dead best friend. Now the question is – who did the shooter want dead – Liz or her sister? As the danger rises, can Jake keep Liz safe while trying to catch the shooter or will the unthinkable happen?

After having read ‘Fatal Judgment’ I realized that I should have read the ‘Heroes of Quantico’ Series first, because Mark Sanders who in the that series is also in ‘Fatal Judgment’.

Putting that aside, ‘Fatal Judgment’ was phenomenal! It held my attention almost from page one, and when I finished the book it left me wanting to read ‘Deadly Pursuit’ but that book isn’t out until August, 2011. Now there isn’t all much more I can say that won’t give away key points in the book – except – I most definitely plan to read ‘Deadly Pursuit’ as soon as I can.

In the Shadow of Evil – Book Three – Robin Caroll

In the Shadow of EvilIn the Shadow of Evil by Robin Caroll

My rating: 5 stars!

‘In The Shadow Of Evil’ is the third book in the Evil Series. I have read the first two books – Deliver Us From Evil, Fear No Evil – and ‘In The Shadow Of Evil may very well be the best one yet. I love romance suspense stories and this book fits nicely in that category.

The book starts out with a woman being murdered years ago and then transforms into the present time. Layla Taylor, a female contractor, is nominated to win an award but then tragedy strikes, one of her projects is destroyed buy an arsonist. To make matters worse a body is found in whats remaining of the house. As the danger grows so does an attraction between Detective Maddox Bishop and Layla Taylor but can he solve the case before something deadly happens to Layla.

‘In The Shadow Of Evil’ was really interesting and easy to read. There is a twist in this book but not with the arsonist….there is much more that I want to say but I think that if I do it will spoil some of the book for you.

I recommend ‘In The Shadow Of Evil’ if you like reading books that have both romance and suspense!

The Knight, A Patrick Bowers Thriller (Book 3) – Steven James

The Knight (The Patrick Bowers Files, #3)The Knight by Steven James

My rating: 5 stars!

“The Knight” is probably my favorite book in The Patrick Bowers Series so far. The story concept it so unique – a killer telling what he is going to do next through a medieval manuscript and then doing it. Although You’d think it would be easy to stop him, it’s so not!

In this story Tessa (Patrick’s Stepdaughter) finds a box in Patrick’s closet (while packing his stuff) that is filled with her dead mother’s momentos. One of those momentos in a key…but what does it go to? And how will it affect her?

I’ll forewarn you there are some gruesome murder scenes in ‘The Knight’ but even though I didn’t like reading it, it seemed true to the story. Along with all of Steven James’ books there was a surprise twist ending and who I thought was the culprit, wasn’t!

This book also made me think about how we all are totally depraved sinners that could never do anything good or right without Jesus’s Sacrifice & God’s Grace and Mercy. A Bible verse that I always find comfort in is Romans 5:20-21 – Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord”

The Witness – Josh McDowell

The WitnessThe Witness by Josh D. McDowell

My rating: 4.5 stars!

I read ‘The Witness’ sometime in January so this book isn’t as fresh as it would be if I had just read it.

‘The Witness’ was a good book. I would have given it 5 stars except for a few things that it had (a non-married couple living together and other things similar to that). The mystery part of the book was really good, it kept me entertained and reading. ‘The Witness’ wasn’t boring and from page one was gripping and suspenseful. It held my attention and if I remember correctly – made me cry.

‘The Witness is another book I would recommend.

The Crimson Cipher – Susan Page Davis

Crimson CipherCrimson Cipher by Susan Page Davis

My rating: 5 stars!!

I read this book in January.

I alway enjoy reading mystery books that are written in the 1900’s (Miss fortune by Sara Mills…), so it was no surprise that I loved this book.

‘The Crimson Cipher’ did not disappoint me at all. It had romance, mystery and suspense throughout and was just all-around a great book.

I definitely would recommend ‘The Crimson Cipher’ if you like mystery and romance together. I loved the code breaking part of this book also, it made me think of how it might be in real life. I hope that there will be a sequel in the future.

The Rook, A Patrick Bowers Thriller (Book 2) – Steven James

The Rook (The Patrick Bowers Files, #2)The Rook by Steven James

My rating: 5 stars!

After reading ‘The Pawn’ I couldn’t wait to read this thriller & I wasn’t disappointed. Steven James is great at writing books that hold my attention throughout the entire book.

Patrick Bower’s step-daughter, Tessa, is a vegetarian/vegan for humane reasons, which I found interesting since I am a vegan.

‘The Rook’ is filled with twists and turns that kept me guessing until the end. Throughout this book I tried to figure out who ‘Shade’ was, but without success.

The ending of ‘The Rook’, wow, it left me to where I had to read ‘The Knight’ because the story wasn’t finished. So far I have really enjoyed ‘The Patrick Bowers Series’ and I don’t want it to end! ‘The Rook’ had all of the suspense I crave in a thriller and more! Recommended if you enjoy reading thrillers that keep you guessing!
