Leaving: Bailey Flanigan Series (Book 1) – Karen Kingsbury

Leaving (Bailey Flanigan, #1)Leaving by Karen Kingsbury

My rating: 5 stars!!

It’s been awhile since I read ‘Take Four’ so I didn’t remember where that book had left off, but once I started ‘Leaving’ I was captivated again by Bailey and Cody’s relationship.

Bailey auditions for a Broadway Musical and Cody takes a coaching job in a small community outside Indianapolis to be closer to his mother who is in jail. Also, Ashley worries about her husband’s, Landon’s, cough. He’s a firefighter and volunteered at Ground Zero and now Ashley worries that may be the reason for his cough.

Be prepared to tear up when reading ‘Leaving’… it made me cry. The story is well written and I anticipate the future release of the rest of the Bailey Flanigan Series.

The Bishop, A Patrick Bowers Thriller (Book 4) – Steven James

The Bishop (The Patrick Bowers Files, #4)The Bishop by Steven James

My rating: 4 stars!!

‘The Bishop’ was so bizarre and strange. The killers were very creepy and the murder scenes gruesome. This all fit with the books story but it was still a little disturbing. I will say this again, Steven James is great at writing suspense that keeps my attention!

‘The Bishop’ has a crime seen where a woman is put alive in a Chimpanzee’s cage to be eaten alive by Chimpanzee’s – I found that disturbing. There are a lot of other murder scenes in this book but that is the one I remember the most.

The horrific murder scenes in ‘The Bishop’ reminded me of the depravity of man and how we’re ‘dead’ when we are born because of our sinful nature and the only way to be alive is in Christ Jesus.

There are twists and turns in ‘The Bishop’ and so much suspense. Be prepared to stay up late reading ‘The Bishop’

No Safe Haven – Kimberley and Kayla R. Woodhouse

No Safe HavenNo Safe Haven by Kimberley Woodhouse

My rating: 5 stars!!

I remember vaguely the Extreme Makeover Home Edition featuring the Woodhouse family and just knowing that Kayla actually experiences some (if not all) of what Andi goes through, made reading this book even more surreal.

‘No Safe Haven’ had action and suspense but also had faith. Andi showed grace to the man who tried to kill them – by sabotaging their plane. No Safe Haven also had a thrilling plot that toward the final pages made me cry. There is so much to ‘No Safe Haven’ that you should just read it yourself.

I plan to read their next book (Race Against Time) which comes out on November 1st, 2011.

False Pretenses – Kathy Herman

False Pretenses: A Novel (Secrets of Roux River Bayou)False Pretenses: A Novel by Kathy Herman

My rating: 5 stars!!

Before I started this book I didn’t know if I was going to enjoy this book, but I was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed the story and the characters. Forgiveness and Grace were a major theme in ‘False Pretenses’. Adele Woodmore was probably my favorite character because she seemed so nice and friendly.

‘False Pretenses’ was so moving that it brought tears to my eyes. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series – ‘Dangerous Mercy’ – when it comes out this year.

Something I noticed after reading ‘False Pretenses’ is that I should have read the ‘Sophie Trace Trilogy’ series first because some of the characters from that series are also in this series (particularly the Langley’s). So I plan to read that series soon, that way I can know the background story to them (plus it seems like the series will be interesting).
